VISTAMER® Rubber is cryogenically ground particulate rubber that has been surface activated by a patented reactive gas process. Surface activation makes the particles easy to disperse, and creates superior adhesion between the particles and the surrounding polymer. The process chemically alters rubber particles to create reactive functional groups on the surface of the material. These reactive functional groups react with a broad spectrum of rubber and plastic materials to form tenacious adhesion with the polymers with which they are combined. VISTAMER Rubber particles chemically bond to various materials to create strong compositions with desirable properties.
VISTAMER Rubber is typically used as an additive to enhance the performance characteristics of various polymers, such as urethanes, epoxies, polyurea, polysulfide and acrylic latex which are used to make coatings, sealants and adhesives. When integrated with other polymer materials, VISTAMER Rubber imparts a number of desirable performance benefits.
Customers use VISTAMER Rubber to manufacture new products with superior characteristics or enhance the performance and value of existing products, such as industrial coatings. Examples of how customers might use VISTAMER rubber include:
• Anti-corrosion industrial coatings to increase durability and strength
• Epoxy floor coatings to increase flexibility and improve impact resistance
• Polyurethane industrial wheels for superior grip and traction
• Polysulfide coatings to increase abrasion resistance and toughness
• Latex floor paint to increase slip resistance
What Makes VISTAMER Rubber Unique in Industrial Coatings?
• Increases substrate adhesion
• Enhances flexibility and tensile strength
• Provides greater impact and abrasion resistance
• Retards corrosion
• Creates higher co-efficient of friction and wet traction
• Able to impart profile on surface of coatings
